Elizabeth came to see Dr Aggarwal about abdominoplasty and muscle repair. Elizabeth has had 3 children and suffered from significant muscle separation after her second child.
Prior to her consultation at Mode Plastic Surgery, Elizabeth had 3 umbilical hernias repaired. After her 3rd child, the separation of her rectus muscles worsened but fortunately the umbilical hernia did not recur. Elizabeth had tried all available treatments to improve the muscle separation including regular exercise, personal training and physiotherapy.
6 months after her surgery Elizabeth was able to do sit ups which previously she was unable to do indicating her improvement in her core muscle strength. Similarly whilst she enjoyed jogging, she had largely given it up prior to surgery as it would create neck and back pain – fortunately this back pain has resolved post surgery, allowing her to resume this activity.
*Abdominoplasty in setting of muscle separation is considered as reconstructive surgery and carries an associated Medicare item number for the procedure listed in the MBS. Please note that this is not cosmetic surgery. It is focused totally on reconstructing the form of the body after pregnancy, and is aimed at improvement of the body’s function or overall health.
Please feel free to listen to Elizabeth’s story video below.
