Christine had been thinking about breast reduction procedure for many years but wanted to complete her family before proceeding to surgery. When she came to Mode Plastic Surgery, she was already the mum of two beautiful children, and had stopped breast feeding in anticipation of her desire to have breast reduction surgery.
In the past Christine had been teased as she always bigger breasts than her friends. This certainly made her feel very self conscious and unfortunately Christine’s breast size continued to increase as she got older. It was after having her second child that she felt least happiest with her breast size, feeling they were very disproportionate to the rest of her body. In particular she was finding it difficult to exercise, and find appropriately fitting clothing, especially bras at a normal clothing store.
10 months after her surgery she has noticed a lot of changes. Christine feels like the weight has been lifted off her chest (quite literally!) and that her posture has improved. She is able to sit more upright whereas in the past she always was hunching over, both from bad posture (related to the heavy breast size) but also subconsciously trying to hide the chest area. She finds exercise a lot more enjoyable as prior to surgery, she would need to wear three sports bras in order to do any sort of jogging or running – now she can just put one lightweight bra which makes it a lot easier, and a lot more enjoyable to participate in physical activity.
*Breast Reduction is considered reconstructive surgery and carries an associated Medicare item number for the procedure listed in the MBS. Please note that this is not cosmetic surgery. It is focused totally on eliminating the symptoms of macromastia (namely neck, back, shoulder pain, and skin rashes associated with large breasts), and is aimed at improvement of the body’s function or overall health.
